This Department looks after the administration, finance, security and maintenance of Bangladesh National Museum. It consists of four sections, namely, Administration and Establishment, Audit and Accounts, Security, and Engineering.

In addition to conducting general administration and providing day-to-day needs, the Administration and Establishment Section assists all the administrative activities of Bangladesh National Museum and Branch Museums, ensures the success of every aspect of the Museum's mission and vision, fosters and supports an outstanding staff at all levels and in all sectors of the Museum for the attainment of its goals, organizes and implements programs and activities of the Museum, and encourages and facilitates the professional growth, training, and development of the staff.

In addition to keeping the accounts of the Museum up-to-date, the Audit and Accounts Section meets the needs of the Museum in all aspects of its programs and maintains a balanced budget.

The Security Section is responsible for the safeguard of all objects of Bangladesh National Museum, whether displayed in galleries or kept in stores. To make displayed objects difficult to steal or damage while at the same time allowing a connection between the objects and the beholder requires generous amounts of planning, some cool technology and a little ingenuity. Efforts are underway to strengthen and streamline the security system, which has to be so comprehensive as to cover not simply the lobby, galleries and stores but the entire museum complex round the clock.

In addition to undertaking day-to-day repairs and preparing tender notices/documents, the Engineering Section establishes and maintains facilities for the public, ensures that public facilities are conducive to a rewarding experience, and maximizes use of the Museum's space and facilities in support of its mission and goals. The Engineering Section also lends its support to the Curatorial and other Departments for preparing development plans/programs/projects.
